Current Plans for School-Based Health Center On Hold

Northville Public Schools has been developing a partnership with Michigan Medicine for an initiative that would create School-Based Health Centers to provide convenient and accessible physical and behavioral health care services to our students. The initiative had been thoroughly researched and vetted by District leadership. We were confident that this program could support the well-being of our 7,000+ students in providing a range of medical and behavioral health services, including preventative care, immunizations, basic medical exams, sports physicals and treatment for minor illness and injuries along with access to clinical therapy and other mental health supports.  Last month, the Northville Board of Education voted and approved moving forward with this exciting initiative.

However, Northville Public Schools has been informed by Michigan Medicine that they would not move forward with this partnership at this time. We were surprised and disappointed by this decision, and hope that in the future, there may be other opportunities to work with Michigan Medicine on other projects.

We want our community to know that while this outcome was unexpected, our work to promote the well-being of our students is ongoing. We can assure our community that Northville Public Schools remains steadfast in its commitment to providing support for all of our students in our schools to further support academic success and social-emotional health for all. Northville Public Schools pledges to continue to explore opportunities which help us accomplish that goal.
