Classroom Close-Up: Ms. Harkin, Moraine Classroom Close-Up: Ms. Harkin, Moraine For this Classroom Close-Up we visited the Moraine Library! Stacey Harkin is the media aide and she explains what typically happens when classrooms come to visit the library. Show Transcript Hello! I'm Mrs. Harkin, welcome to the Moraine Media Center. Today we are working on kindness, random acts of kindness, for our Leader In Me. In the library the kids normally come in and drop their books and I check them in and then I go read them a story, we talk, and then afterwards they get a little bit of time to go and check out books and ask me questions and read quietly. So why don't you come on in and I'll show you the story we're reading today. Good morning Mrs. DeJarnett's class. Good morning. Alright, so I know for Leader In Me you guys have been working on random acts of kindness so I picked this really special book it's called A Hat for Mrs. Goldman and it talks a little bit about skills that people had like knitting. Does anybody know someone who knits or crochets or sews or something like that? Yeah, so that was a skill that people used to pass down and teach other people in their families and in this book it's a neighbor, Mrs. Goldman, who teaches a little girl Sophia how to knit and then we'll see how she has her act of kindness that goes with it. She reads us a story. then she'll call us and then we get up and look for books and then check them out at the counter. I like exploring new books and getting new books. I like how it's really well organized so it's easy to find the book that you want. She's really helpful because if you don't know where book is she'll help you find one and I usually look for a biography book.
