A first grade class was working on matching the beat and mirroring the actions of their partner. Show Transcript hello Hello, welcome to music, I am Mr. Kolpak, music teacher here at Moraine Elementary and today we're working on beat and no beat with this first grade class, Ms. Mikami's first grade. Now we've talked about beat and no beat a lot so far this year, but what's cool about this song called All in One is that it actually moves between parts that do have a beat and parts that don't have a beat so the students can really hear the big difference between the part that does not have a beat and a part that does have a beat. The first thing you're going to see are the students kind of echoing, not really echoing, but being a mirror to me and gonna see them kind of flow with the music when there's no beat and then I keep a nice steady beat copying me when there is a beat. Then we're going to do something a little different after that that I think the students are ready for. So come on in. Students be ready to be my mirror as we've done before when there's no beat we're flowing through music. And when there is a beat, you're going to be keeping a beat just like me, like you're my mirror. We were practicing beats and no beats and we paired up and we did All in One which means we get with our partners. We're supposed to pretend one is the leader and one is the mirror that copies what the other person does. We try to flow with the music. He makes these silly beats and fun beats and he makes up these silly rhymes for beats sometimes and with names and he puts like silly and then he puts people with rhyms and put them together to make it a silly rhyme and he and that's what I love about music.
