Silver Springs Principal Named Outstanding Principal

Each Year at the MEMSPA's annual conference in December, each region identifies one Outstanding Principal to represent the region. The honoree is celebrated by their school at the banquet during the conference.

Katie Booth was nominated for the 2022 Region 1 Outstanding Principal award by Thornton Creek Elementary principal, Deagon Jewett. Region 1 encompasses all of Wayne County.

"Katie Booth, principal of Silver Springs Elementary, exemplifies the word perseverance. For the past two years, Mrs. Booth has been an unofficial mentor and advocate for so many including her students and staff but also for all who are a part of the Northville Public Schools community.

Throughout COVID, and well before, Katie Booth has led by example. She is a visionary who sees what is needed and works with her colleagues at all levels to secure funding, resources, and support to ensure everyone is successful. Mrs. Booth understands and appreciates the need to have difficult conversations as she demonstrates the value of listening to all perspectives prior to making decisions.

As an elementary principal colleague of Mrs. Booth, I am proud to work alongside her as she gives her all every day for every child and does so with utmost dignity and respect. Thank you for your time and for providing a platform through which I may share my nomination for Mrs. Katie Booth as she truly is an Outstanding Principal!" stated Mr. Jewett in his submission letter.
