School Year Schedule for Ms. Sarah’s Class
Please keep in mind that throughout the day, these times may vary as experiences and activities may run longer/ shorter based on the children’s exploration and interests.
7:00-8:15 a.m.- Welcome to school! Please make sure that your child is signed in in our classroom (Room 94) and that they’re belongings are hung up and put away. After, children during this time will be dropped off in Room 93 which is next door with Mrs. Laura, Mrs. Kerri, Ms. B and Mrs. Kowalczyk.
8:15-8:55 a.m.- I will get the children from Room 93 and we will transition over into our room. During this time, children will come in and work on signing in. Once they have turned in their sign-in sheet, they will have the opportunity to engage in free play/choice time.
8:55 children will clean up.
9:00-9:20 a.m.- Group Meeting- During this time we have our group meeting where we will go over calendar, weather, talk about what our day will look like and children will be able to participate in music and movement.
9:20- 9:50 a.m.- Breakfast- Children will be able to sit down and engage with their peers as we eat breakfast together. Children will learn self-independence as we will work on hand washing, opening up of food and cleaning up with the children. If children finish early we encourage them to look through our classroom books.
9:50-10:20 a.m.- Brain Gym/Music and Movement- During the course of this time, the children will be able to engage in a variety of different movements and motions that will help the children relax and express themselves.
10:20-10:30 a.m.- Choice and Center Explanation- During this time, we will review with the children the different centers and activities that are open for them during their choice time. Centers are constructed around the children’s interest.
10:30- 11:30 a.m.- Choice Time- Children will have the opportunity to engage in a variety of experiences within the classroom that focus on their motor skills, cognitive development, language and literacy development, social and emotional development as well as having the opportunity to develop and enhance their learning through classroom exploration.
11:30-12:00 p.m.- Outside Play- Children will go outside given that weather permits, so please dress accordingly as we will go out if the temperature is 20 degrees or above.
12:00-1:00 p.m.- Lunch- Children will come in and get their rest items as we will help and work with children so they can learn to make their cots. Then they will wash their hands and have lunch. Monthly lunch menu’s will be sent home for those who wish to purchase a lunch through Northville Public Schools Food service instead of bringing a lunch from home.
1:00- 3:00 p.m.- Rest Time- Children during this time are given the opportunity to rest and take a nap. If a child wishes not to sleep, they will be given the opportunity to choose from several quiet activities such as drawing or looking through a book on their cots while their fellow peers sleep.
3:00-3:45 p.m.- Rest time wake up and snack- Children will wake up from rest time and work on putting their things away before washing their hands for afternoon snack. Snack will be provided. However, children are more than welcome to bring something from home if they would like.
3:45-5:00 p.m.- Afternoon Activities- Children will be able to engage in a variety of experiences in our classroom, outside and in the gym.
5:00-6:00 p.m.- Free Choice/ Classroom Activities- Other classes will join our room (Room 94) and children will have the opportunity to engage in free choice with their fellow peers.
6:00 p.m.- Departure- Our program officially closes at 6:00 p.m. A late fee will be applied to those whom arrive after 6:00 to pick their child up. That information can be found in our Parent Handbook. Additionally, you will need to have a picture ID on you. Lastly, if someone else is picking up your child, they must be listed on the child’s emergency contact information and will also need to show ID before your child can be released. If you know someone else is picking your child up, an email letting us know will be very helpful!
